5 Year Plan Essay

This is a five year plan for after I leave college. It is not exact if I will follow this plan in the future because I may change my mind with these plans and seemingly find what I want to do quickly at the right time. I have decided that I will be working in the media industry and have found that I enjoy being an editor, still photographer or a camera operator. From my research, I found that I would be comfortable in any role in the media sectors, including a director and floor manager.

I plan to do a University course at this college, unless I have found work in an industry by then. If not, I will continue the TV and Film course into University. This will allow me to practice and develop my skills in the media industry for three more years and to study near home, making it more convenient for travelling and family needs. To get into the university course, I would have to pass this Level 3 TV and Film course and have a lot of work experience to provide as practice in the industry. I will also have to take part in playing these different roles to provide myself with the information that I would need for these jobs and to see if they are fitting for me. University and jobs also looks for a show reel which shows off your work to them and to show them how much you have developed over time. They may also ask for a portfolio of work which is this website, showing the work you have done over the course of your learning and education.

Many have been offered jobs before they have left college, meaning there is the chance that I could get a job in the industry without having to carry onto university. Although this is a small chance, it is a possibility for my career's future and may appear from no-where. To be noticed I will have to make myself stand out and take on work experience to get myself out into the media industry. This may be hard at first, but only one notice could change the future for my career.

After the three years at university, I would like to find a job in editing as a starting place. I feel that this would be the least complicated job to get a hold of out of the ones I would like to do as well as a still photographer. I feel that I would be happy starting with one of these jobs and following it out to see where it takes me and to discover if I enjoy the job or not. I may also look for work in camera operating after a couple years in work and to get into the film and TV industry. These are the smaller jobs that I would feel that I could perform professionally in as a starter job.

I might look into directing or being a floor manager because I have good organisation skills, depending on what I find most comfortable at the time. I will need lots of work experience to be considered for these jobs and to possess many talents but that can be learned throughout my educational courses and the work experience that I will take on over the five years. I will have to do many side projects and attend many events. I have researched into these jobs, looking at the qualifications and skills needed in another essay meaning that I know what is needed for these jobs and what skills I would have to show. I am knowledgeable in what is needed and it is said that work experience is the best evidence of your work.

This is a rough plan on what I could do in the future and the possibilities out there for me in the media industry in regards of education and jobs that I could undertake. For now, I will continue to work hard on my assignments and gaining work experience for my CV. I will attempt to play out the roles that I believe I could be good at in the industry so I can give a solid answer for my decisions in the future and to see what role I work as best. I will continue to practice media related skills and my communication skills for future usage in this industry, allowing a wide range of skills and many more open doors in the paths that I could take in the future.
