Born To Die- Final Project Feedback

"Great work."- Epic Radio (YouTube)

"Lovely content! Keep it up!"- MisterBassBoost (YouTube)

"Turned out well. Good potential on the story line , the girls seemed really into it as well , just those damn chairs!! Keep up the good work, so proud of you."- Frank Sloper (Parent)

"It was very nice to work with you and you directed us really well. I think if the chairs and bags had been moved it would have been even better but overall was really effective."- Anna McGuinness (Peer and Actress)

"Dude that was really good. Amazing for someone not professional yet!!!! I loved the way the camera moved with their arms!!"- Lydia Hayes (Peer)

"I liked it, your best shots are where the camera follows the movement, and the narrative is clear, i dont know if it was the cameras themselves or just lighting but some shots are nice and clear whilst others are quite yellowish but that makes it look a tad weird, but I do enjoy it, music fits well and dialogue between fights keeps it intriguing."- Goncalo Santos Ganga (Peer)

"Use of close ups were good to show the emotion of the characters and key subjects like the fist, scar and props."- Andrew Holmes (Peer)

"I think that your shots are very nice and varied! Lots of nice creative ones like the low and one when the main character was on the floor and the antagonist came up. The only thing I'd say is that the sound needs some work. So in some places it suddenly cuts off while someone is screaming. Also add some more punching sounds of the sound of metal clashes when the pipes are coming into contact. This type of thing is very effective."- Sarah Cooke (Peer)

"I mostly enjoyed the beginning of it. Felt like a really professional edit."- James Griffiths (Peer)

"Good variety of shots and great make-up. Fight scenes are very difficult to plan and pull off so I think you have done a good job tackling this one. At times, especially near the beginning, there is a bit of soft focus going on but it does correct itself throughout. Also the mise-en-scene needed some consideration and I have said this to you before. Maybe a different location would've added more to the narrative. One final note; I'm not keen on the change in music, I like that the music stops to build suspense (as they pick up the poles) but think it should go straight back in to the fast paced music we had before the silence. Overall some great work here, very difficult to achieve but you have achieved it."- Jake Elson (Lecturer)

"Final punch looked very believable more so than some of the others, but the way way in which you've shot or cut the fight scene is very clever, it cuts in and out so that the aggression and movement is there, very difficult to film and cut a fight scene I should imagine with two girls whom fighting does not come naturally. Really good, may be a few more single shots of legs hitting legs, arms hitting arms? Like flash photography? I thought it was brilliant, very talented young lady."- Amy Clark (Peer)

"The moment where the girl sends a punch out, her opponent catches it and swings her around and away. The camera movement in this is brilliant, really captures the movement. You'd built up to a frantic pace and as a viewer you wanted more of that and it just tails off before it. The roll out of the foot was great and cutting to a wide cover is good because it provides context in terms of space. The extreme close-up on the punch to the face would have benefited from a possible camera shake and the actress reacting with more whiplash at having been face punched. The bit with the pacing to pick up the stick and her finding the other stick and defending herself is nicely edited. The lull in the action here seems justified, she's down and seems out and it just works all together very nicely, each shot conveying what it needs without lingering too long. With regards to yourself, I think you did a very good job with what you had. Direction wise, just try and get your actors to really put their bodies into a fight. Fighting is primal and it shouldn't look controlled but I know it's difficult to get people to do that. Editing is very good and some really good parts. I'd just suggest that as it's a fight scene cuts should be faster and shots should be shorter it's an action scene it should be frantic but this did come across in some places. Sound wise no complaints really, maybe the screams could have been toned down."- Giles Cosgrove (Peer)
