Stourhead Videos- Day 1Journal

On the 1st December, we were challenged to get some b-roll clips for the promotional video we are creating for Stourhead. We were split into our groups and were challenged to walk around Stourhead to get these clips and to try and gather the best footage we could.

Outside filming brought many challenges as we had to cover much more ground. By working in different groups allowed more people to be in different places and to get many shots. By working together, we managed to get a file full of video clips that we can use as cutaways in the final video. We all shared these clips when we arrived back at college so everyone had access to all of the clips recorded that day.

Inside the house, all of the class was together which allowed us to know who was filming what and how much footage we were getting was in better perspective. We split into different rooms to get different footage and then later covered the other rooms to make sure we had enough footage overall and that we had back up footage if we really needed it. We managed to get different angles of the rooms, different shots and different movements.

The group I was in worked well together, taking in turns to carry equipment that was heavy and taking turns to get different shots. We were also good at pointing out shots that we thought would be good for the video and could direct another to get the shot we imagined. We followed the risk assessment we wrote to make sure that everyone was safe during filming.
